In Character Information
Name: Bandit Killer Dragon Spooker ENEMY OF ALL WHO LIVE Lina Inverse
Series: Slayers (Anime)
Canon Standing: After Evolution-R
Age: 18
Birthday & Astrology Sign: November 30th, Sagittarius (Completely made up as I've never seen a canon birthday for her.)
Arcana: The Magician

Personality:

Lina Inverse may seem cocky, egotistical, and stubborn, but in reality ... uh, actually, she is very much all of these things to very extreme degrees. However - whether this is fortunate it or not, it often depends on your POV with Lina - these attributes are not unearned. Lina is a young woman who is very good at what she does, and what she does is frequently violent and most often incredibly destructive.

When moving past the massive ego, one can actually find that when treated with a basic amount of respect, Lina can actually be a fairly nice person. She is, in actuality, at the end of the day a person who is genuinely good who will do the right thing in the end. She just sometimes gets ... distracted. By bright, shiny objects. See, Lina is also rather greedy - the prospect of treasure, money, and various other material objects of great value can oftentimes become a tremendous driving force for her motivations. (Sometimes, it can become the driving force.) Often times though, this will run her afoul of nefarious villains who seek far darker designs. If Lina should pillage their vaults of all valuables after the fact, well hey, that's just payment for a day's good deed.

Though sometimes (okay, oftentimes) twisted by her inherent greed, Lina does have a certain code of justice. She will blow up and steal from bandits, but if she happens to blow up an entire town full of innocent people - well, that's just an accident, you see? You can't honestly blame HER for such things, now, really. She does have recognition for the kind of incredible power she wields, though, and when the chips are down WILL risk life and limb to save those from threats far larger than them. Often she will have some personal stake involved, but she has gone well out of her way to help others even when she hasn't.

(And all those times she's saved the world? Hasn't even gotten paid for it ONCE. She's practically a saint over here, people.)

While on the subject of the seven sins, Lina is also quite the glutton. Woe be unto any all you can eat buffet when Lina Inverse steps into town. Even worse if she's accompanied by her guardian, Gourry Gabriev. Lina can notoriously consume multiple portions of everything on a menu and still come back asking for thirds or eighths. One would wonder where all that food goes on her petite frame, but one can presume her heavy use of powerful magic gives her one hell of a metabolism. When food is the subject of the moment, nothing else matters to Lina, whether its with regards to friends or foes alike. She can and will battle her comrades for the food on their own plates, and if you find Lina and Gourry eating together you will likely at one point find them battling it out with their forks over who gets the last piece of something or other.

The fuse on Lina's temper is frighteningly short. As is her stature, and if you think it's a good idea to comment upon this (or her bust size) she will show you just how quick to anger she is. Lina can become scarily violent in such cases, and is not afraid to wield highly destructive magic just to get back at someone for such insults. Needless to say, she is just a little self-conscious about her looks, in spite of her frequent boasts of beauty.

She has few outright fears, but those she has are crippling. Particularly, A) Slugs, and B) her older sister, the Knight of Cephied, Luna Inverse. The presence of the former can send her on a massive freak out, while the mere mention of the latter can trigger a panic attack on such a severe level she'll want to dig herself a grave and bury herself in it. (Or in one case, build a pyramid and seal herself in it.) There are other things that can trigger a massive emotional breakdown with her - particularly, violence inflicted upon children or the potential deaths of her friends - but the two things above are the most frequently visited upon fears. Generally, it's for comedic effect, but they're not always things that happen at comedic times~

Though it takes quite a lot to get it out of her (such as ... oh, I don't know, their presumed deaths) Lina does in actuality care very deeply for her friends. Mess with them, and you've put yourself square in line for a Dragon Slave. This primarily carries over to her most frequent companions - Amelia, Zelgadis, and Gourry - but less-frequent but still significant party members - such as Filia or Pakota - would definitely fall under this, too. She may fight with them, they may berate each other, but there are few others she would want having her back. And they do, as she does with them.

This especially carries over to Gourry. Her self-appointed guardian, Lina is very quick to point out his great and many failings in brain power. However, put him in danger, and Lina can and will become the most lethal thing on the planet to save him. This was something Hellmaster Phibrizo found out first hand, which resulted in Lina bringing about his destruction and nearly that of the entire world with her Giga Slave.

Canon Powers:
Lina is a self proclaimed "Beautiful Sorcery Genius" and this is really pretty accurate. Her greatest skill is really her knowledge and vast skill at utilizing magical arts to do her bidding. She's so well versed and practiced, in fact, she can call upon the grand majority of spells at her disposal without reciting an entire incantation ("Chaos Words"), summoning these powers with a flick of the wrist and a shout of the spell's name. ("Power Words")

Magic Lina is versed in is as follows:

Shamanistic Magic - The bread and butter of Lina's skill set, Lina has knowledge of every branch of the Shamanism skill tree, though she often will bear preference to some of the most destructive elements of it. (Re: FIRE GOOD) Each branch focuses mostly on a particular element, so they're fairly self explanatory, but they cover the following elemental designations: [Fire] [Water] [Ice] [Lightning] [Wind] [Earth] [Light] You could also likely apply [Physical] to certain Earth Shamanism spells that use the Earth to strike out against an opponent, and [Mind] to certain status-affecting spells.
White Magic - This is probably, in actuality, Lina's weakest subject... but mind that "weak" for Lina in magic just means "not the best of the best," as she still has extensive knowledge on it. While thanks to spells like Barrier and Lighting she uses this branch fairly frequently for utility purposes, stronger elements of it such as Resurrection are a bit out of her skill set. She does, however, know basic Recovery and healing spells but it still not near the level of her White Magic using comrades like Amelia or Sylphiel in that area. White Magic is typically classified as [Light] with status affecting spells like Sleeping falling under [Mind] as well.
Black Magic - As said, Lina can tend to lean towards the destructive side of things, and does so quite well with Black Magic. Her most destructive and frequently used spell of this branch is the Dragon Slave. Due to the immense power of this spell, drawing upon the lord of all Mazoku, Ruby-Eye Shabrinigdu, she must recite the entire incantation in the process of gathering power for it. The resulting destructive power from the Dragon Slave has been known to level entire small towns and leave massive, smoking craters in the earth. All Black Magic spells have the element of [Dark] naturally, but can reach into other elements as well, such as [Fire] [Lightning] [Ice] and [Water]. Note that the spells tied to Hellmaster Phibrizo and Chaos Dragon Gaav are no longer accessible, due to their deaths in Lina's world.

Lina also has a few spells that are fairly unique to her:

Boost - A spell calling upon the power of her Demon's Blood Talismans, which can be used to increase the magical power of any of her spells, including allowing her to more easily control the two spells listed below. Due to the source of its power, this spell would be classified under [Dark] and probably [Mind] as it is altering Lina's own power.

Ragna Blade - A spell which draws power from the Lord of Nightmares, the "mother of all things" of the Slayers universe. It requires the casting of Boost for Lina to control it, and even then it can put a massive drain upon her power and physical strength. It is said to be able to cut through anything, even cutting through reality into the astral plane itself. Of course, the difficulty of control and it having to be wielded by Lina's own hands means that it's not something she can pull out at any time, and she also has to be able to HIT her opponent in some capacity. Like the Dragon Slave, due to the incredible amount of power being harnessed, Lina must recite the entire incantation for the spell in most instances. An exception to this is that once in a period of great stress and fury, she was able summon the Ragna Blade in an instant in order to defeat the assassin, Zuuma. It would be classified as ... well, let's take "Sword of Darkness" literally and say [Dark]. It's actually a bit more complicated than that due to the Lord of Nightmare's nature, but let's say the nature of the world futzes with stuff enough to spit it out like that.

Giga Slave - Lina's ultimate spell, potentially the strongest magical spell in all of human history up to the point of Lina's time. It is a spell which can destroy, without question, anything and everything that is put within its path - including, if control over the spell is lost, the world itself. It summons not just the power of the Lord of Nightmares, as the Ragna Blade does, but the Lord of Nightmares herself. Due to its highly dangerous nature, Lina refrains from using it unless - typically - the world is about to end. Lina is the only one with the knowledge of how to really cast the spell, and it's probably with good reason. The Giga Slave is [Almighty] and probably wouldn't even be touched with a twenty mile stick unless a moderator came up and asked for it, literally. (Or the world IS about to end, but either way I'd still be asking first before anything.)

Lastly, Lina is still a competent warrior even without magic. Which is good because she doesn't have access to it during That Time Of The Month. She's good with a blade, and though not physically as powerful as most of the things or people she'd be fighting, is still resourceful enough to make due with whatever she has handy.

Canon Weapons|Items:

-A dagger. There's nothing particularly special about it; just that it's sharp and good for stabbing things with. Thus, it classes as just [Physical].
-Demon's Blood Talismans - Four talismans she wears on her person (shoulder pads, the brooch of her mantle, and her belt) containing power from the Demon Lords of the four worlds created by the Lord of Nightmares. (To be precise, Ruby Eye Shabranigdu, Dark Star Dugradigdu, Death Fog, and Chaotic Blue.) By casting the Boost spell Lina is able to call on this power to amplify her magic, something she generally saves for her bigger spells. (The Dragon Slave, Ragna Blade, and Giga Slave most typically.) Due to the dark nature of the power they summon, they classify as [Dark].

Canon Allies:
In spite of summoning power from large, nasty demons, she doesn't have any sort of creature following her around. Unless you count Gourry!

Canon Baggage:
For the most part, just the clothes on her back. Lina travels relatively light, short of any money and treasures she may have recently acquired from bandits or pirates she may have recently massacred massacred. ... wait. ... No, yeah, that's right.

Writing Sample

Lina took no responsibility for the way things had just played out. Really, how could she? She was completely innocent. The bodies strewn from here to there (there wasn't need to be such worrywarts, they were alive! At least, she was fairly sure), the smoke billowing from both the establishment she had been in and its neighboring buildings, and the ... sizable hole in the side of said establishment weren't her fault.

The owners of that place weren't people! How could they be? She had only been there for an hour, maybe three. They had no business coming to bother her behind the veritable fortress of dinnerware that had come to surround her table, stacked so high that it threatened to either topple onto other patrons or perhaps just smack right into the ceiling.

If one of those waiters happened to catch a fireball through the chest (and go through a wall... into one of the aforementioned neighboring buildings) well... it was just self defense, right? She didn't have her guardian here to protect her! She was just a perfectly innocent, unassuming girl, for goodness sakes! It wasn't her fault everything was now on fire, as she stood out in the street dusting off her mantle.

...listening to the sounds of sirens approaching in the distance...

Well, again, it wasn't her fault, right?

"That's what they get for false advertising!" she snapped angrily at the growing crowds circling around the scene. "'All you can eat,' my ass!"

Even still, she knew discretion was the better part of valor. As much in the right as she clearly was...

Perhaps hanging around there was not the BEST of ideas.
